OUT OF THE GATE – Graphite Pencil Drawing
16 x 22 inches
This is a horse sketch 2-fer! My pencil drawing “Out Of The Gate” has seen a lot of
action lately. Earlier in the season it was accepted into the
Springville Art Museum’s Juried Show where surprisingly,
of the 200 works accepted, it was the only pencil drawing in the show, which I thought was rather unique.
Most recently, Out Of The Gate was accepted into Ogden Pioneer Days’ Traces Of The West art show, where I was delighted to learn that it won the drawing division. I was very honored to receive this award, as there were many talented artists from nine different states who participated in the event.
The winning entry and a cool medallion to go with it (and a cash prize too!)
Another of my drawings, “Veterans”, is also being shown at the Traces Of The West show. If you’re in the Ogden area during Pioneer Days, be sure to visit the gallery at Union Station, located at the end of historic 25th Street and Wall Ave where the exhibit is being held and check out all the great artwork there.
The winning drawing “Out Of The Gate” and “Veterans” in the upper left. Check out the beautiful hand-made custom barnwood frame by Nate Randall (I admit to the relation…)
Traces Of The West was headed up by Steve Johnson of Huntsville, UT. Along with other dedicated volunteers, he did an excellent job of coordinating the show with the Ogden Pioneer Days celebration and wild west rodeo.
I was able to attend a lovely artists' reception dinner with my husband at the 2-Bit Cafe on 25th Street, where a rootin' tootin' auctioneer/cowboy poet kept things lively and announced the winners of the show. Afterwards, all the artists who attended walked over to Union Station for a private viewing of the art show. I was so impressed with all the good artwork that was displayed.
The Traces Of The West art show wraps up this weekend. Regular hours for Union Station and the gallery are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Call 801-392-6935 for more information.
These and other drawings can be seen on my website www.annetterandall.com. Thanks for looking!
